California Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters has paid her daughter a staggering sum of over $1.2 million since 2004 through a “slate mailer” operation.
A recent Fox News Digital review of Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings brought this highly unusual practice to light, which has alarmed ethics experts.
Slate mailers involve outside campaigns paying to appear on endorsement mailers sent to constituents, a practice more common in California but rare on the federal level. Waters’ campaign has been using this method since receiving approval from the FEC in 2004.
In response to this controversial practice, Republican Texas Rep. Pat Fallon has introduced the Family Integrity to Reform Elections Act.
The legislation seeks to prohibit campaign funds from going to a candidate’s immediate family members and hold candidates directly responsible for knowingly violating the provision.
Fallon emphasized the importance of ending these nepotistic practices, stating that Americans are tired of politicians misusing their hard-earned money.
His bill aims to expose and penalize those who take advantage of campaign funds for personal enrichment.
With other notable Democrats, including Ilhan Omar and James Clyburn, facing similar accusations, it’s crucial that we hold politicians accountable and put an end to these unethical practices.
