In a stunning display of secrecy, the U.S. Secret Service is refusing to release emails that would shed light on the visitors to President Joe Biden’s Delaware homes. This lack of transparency is a slap in the face to Republicans and concerned citizens who demand accountability from their leaders.
The Secret Service justified their refusal by claiming that these emails are not subject to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). They cited a court ruling regarding visitor information for former President Donald Trump’s residences, even though that ruling does not apply to Delaware or Washington, D.C.
It’s clear that there is a double standard at play here. Republicans have been calling on Biden to release his visitor logs for his Delaware home, yet the media and Democrats remain conspicuously silent. Where is the outrage over the lack of transparency? Where is the demand for accountability?
Earlier this year, the Secret Service stated that they were “gathering” information about the visitors to Biden’s home in Wilmington, Delaware, following a scandal involving his potential possession of classified documents.
The demand for information includes not only the visitors to the residence but also other places where Biden may have stashed classified documents.
There is mounting evidence that Biden was aware of a family influence-peddling scheme, including text messages, emails, voicemails, visitor logs, and on-the-record accounts.
These allegations cannot be ignored, and a special counsel should be appointed to investigate them thoroughly.
Senators Chuck Grassley and Ron Johnson have written to the Secret Service, requesting the visitor logs. The agency claims to be evaluating the letter and gathering information that may be responsive to Congressional inquiries.
However, they also state that they do not maintain “formal and comprehensive visitor logs” for protected residences like the one in Wilmington.
This lack of transparency is deeply concerning. It raises serious questions about what Biden and his administration are hiding. If there’s nothing to hide, why not release the visitor logs?
The American people deserve to know who is entering the president’s private residences and potentially influencing his decisions.
