You Won’t Believe What The White House Press Secretary Had To Say

In a stunning display of disengagement, President Biden seemed oblivious to the high-stakes debt ceiling negotiations happening on Capitol Hill. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre attempted to defend the President’s lack of urgency and the administration’s absence in these crucial meetings.

Fox News Channel’s White House correspondent, Peter Doocy, questioned Jean-Pierre at a press conference in Hiroshima, Japan, demanding to know what the President had been doing while the debt ceiling meetings took place back in Washington, D.C.

“What was [Biden] doing for the last several hours while they were in these meetings?” asked Doocy.

Jean-Pierre’s response was nothing short of evasive. She claimed they were having conversations and that the negotiators were on the Hill. She further asserted that it was impossible for the President to be updated while discussions were still ongoing. However, couldn’t he have called in? Doocy challenged, highlighting the fact that Biden was in Japan attending the 2023 G-7 Summit.

Rather than offering a satisfactory explanation, Jean-Pierre argued that the White House was giving “space” to the negotiators and assured that the President would be regularly updated by his advisors.

But why doesn’t President Biden trust Vice President Harris to lead the debt ceiling negotiations, as President Obama trusted then-Vice President Biden in 2011? Doocy pressed further.

Jean-Pierre dismissed the question, stating that she disagreed with its premise. She claimed that Harris had been present at a recent meeting with congressional members and that the President regularly consults and listens to her advice.

With the Treasury Department estimating a tentative deadline of around June 1, the government’s ability to meet its spending obligations hangs in the balance.

It is clear that Biden and his allies in Congress are pushing for an immediate increase in the debt ceiling. Republicans, on the other hand, are demanding spending reductions to accompany any such increase.

The lack of urgency and transparency from the Biden administration is alarming. The American people deserve answers and decisive action in these crucial negotiations. The debt ceiling is not a political game; it is a matter of fiscal responsibility and the future of our nation’s economy.

Republicans must remain vigilant in holding the administration accountable and advocating for responsible fiscal policies that protect the interests of hardworking Americans. The stakes are too high to accept anything less.

Stay tuned as we continue to monitor this situation and provide you with the latest updates on the debt ceiling talks. America deserves better, and it is up to us to demand it.
