Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently expressed approval of the public’s reaction to a rally led by Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, held to protest the indictment of former President Donald Trump. The rally took place outside a New York City courthouse and addressed the charges related to alleged hush money payments during Trump’s 2016 campaign.
Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to criticize Greene’s actions as “shameless bigotry” and commend the “social consequences” she faced from anti-Trump protestors who heckled her during the event. Despite the interruptions, Greene remained steadfast in her support for Trump, stating that the protest was a peaceful demonstration against the persecution of an innocent man.
In response to a warning from Mayor Eric Adams to maintain her “best behavior” during the protest, Greene asserted that she was, in fact, protesting peacefully and called him out by name.
