Recent reports have surfaced that Egypt was planning to send as many as 40,000 rockets to Russia to help in its war on Ukraine. The plan was reportedly uncovered after a leak of documents by a Massachusetts Air National Guardsman.
According to the documents, President Abdel el-Sisi was at least seriously considering the move. Egypt has received billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars in foreign aid, and its possible move to aid Russia has raised concerns in the United States.
Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., expressed outrage at the report, saying that it is a betrayal of America’s trust. Cotton suggested that Egypt should not receive any more foreign aid if it is planning to aid Russia. He further criticized President Biden’s foreign policy, claiming that his weakness is allowing America’s allies to turn to its adversaries.
