Barr pointed out the apparent double standard when it comes to investigations of former President Trump and the Biden family. “AG Garland should take swift action to address this double standard,” Barr urged. The document in question, known as the FD-1023, reportedly contains explosive information. It alleges that Joe Biden received a staggering $5 million as part of a bribery scheme involving an executive from Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian natural gas firm. Hunter Biden, the president’s son, was on the board of Burisma during the alleged scheme, raising concerns about potential influence over U.S. policy decisions.
The FD-1023, dated June 30, 2020, includes interviews conducted by the FBI with a highly credible confidential human source who had multiple meetings and conversations with a top Burisma executive starting in 2015. After initial resistance, the FBI allowed the House Oversight Committee to review the document with redactions. However, House Republicans are demanding its complete release to ensure transparency and accountability.
Barr stressed the need for Attorney General Garland to seriously consider providing Chairman Comer and his Senate supporters access to the FD-1023. He acknowledged the importance of protecting the safety and identity of the confidential source but asserted that transparency should be prioritized in this unique situation.
